my introduction to the hunt cup came after i had just started refereeing in 1972 ,i later went on to be a committee member of witch a made a lot of very good friends of who i am still in contact today .i refereed the senior final in 1989 but before that ran the line to mick crane in the junior final in about 1980 ,running my own business for 35 years never stopped me from attending most meetings for about twenty years ,raising large amounts of monies has helped a lot of people less fortunate than myself but just given me that satisfaction that i helped in some way .being part of that era led me to get involved with w/ton r a quiz team of witch i became captain and i think we still hold the record for winning it 6 years on the bounce ,happy days and i wish the hunt cup team every success in the future

My introduction to JW Hunt Cup was 1963 when I refereed Northicote &Boulton Paul. I became a committee member soon after. Was afforded the 1978 final in which I think is still the highest scoring final at 9-2,after a lapse of a few seasons(due to other interests)I become involved again in what I consider to be the finest working committee I’ve ever been associated with.Hoping that we will be able to complete another fruitful season. Please stay strong and safe in these trying times.

My first experience of the J W Hunt Cup was in the early 1970s as a linesman and then as a referee . I had the privilege of refereeing the 1985/86 final at Willenhall Town FC between Deeleys FC and Handrahan Timbers. My involvement continued through my association with Darlaston Town FC who were finalists in the competition in 2006/07.
That involvement still continues today as does my role as a committee member on the Hunt Cup committee. All in all I have been part of the Hunt Cup history for nearly 50 years and loved every minute of it.
My footballing and voluntary roles over the last 60 years including my involvement with the Hunt Cup resulted in my recognition in the New Years Honours list when I was awarded the British Empire Medal (BEM).

Jon (great grandson) and Tim (great great grandson) of J W Hunt, together with all the Hunt family, fully understand the amount of work and organisation that goes into the annual J W Hunt Cup competition, and we all hope that things can get back to normal soon, along with the important money raising for The Beacon Centre during these difficult times.

We hope all the teams involved in the Cup and the organising committee members are keeping safe and well.

One bit of good news we would like to share is, Tim’s wife Lisa is pregnant with a boy due in September. He will be Tim and Lisa’s second child, Heidi is now two years old. We are all delighted that this will continue the Hunt name, and connection to the Cup, long into the future.

Kind regards,
Jon and Tim Hunt

Could I as President of the J, W, Hunt cup, explain to all , if we do not complete this season it will be the first time in 94 years, the competition played all through the war, one of the few in the country to do so, if we do not complete the season the BIG LOSERS will be the Beacon Centre for the blind
