I am seeking information about the 1935/36 JW Hunt Cup involving Short Heath United as a result of a recently discovered family involvement.
Any information would be greatly appreciated.

The photo of Stafford Road Works F.C. contains my father 1st on the left seated. Also in the team from what my father said were who I believe were George and Frank. George is to the left of the goalkeeper and Frank is on the far right standing. I still have both his cups, one engrave 1947-48 but the other cup wasn't engrave and I always thought it was a runners up cup

Alex

I hope you do not mind me using your site to inform local football followers of the position regarding Darlaston. You may have read that Darlaston Town withdrew from the West Midlands League in 2013. Whilst the City Ground is still being used for football this season there is no senior team representing Darlaston in 2013/14.

A group of us have set up a brand new committee and formed a new Community Interest Company Darlaston Town (1874) FC. Our aim is to raise sufficient funds to set up a team Darlaston Town (1874) FC to play again in 2014/15. We do not know which ground we will play at or in which league but we anticipate we will still play in Darlaston hopefully in the West Midlands League. If successful in our aim and if you will have us we will enter the 2014/15 JW Hunt Cup.

We have several fund raising events planned including a Sportsman's Evening with Steve Daley, Don Goodman and comedian Ian Sludge Lees. We will have a website in the New Year and with your agreement I will also keep people informed of progress through your website.

Anyone wishing more information is welcome to contact me.

Hi, Alex.

I've only just seen your reply about referee TG Bryan. I looked on your website site, and yes there's a photo of him. But what I'm looking for is any contemporary confirmation that he was known as Tom. Something from his own era. Not easy, I know, because I've been looking for thirty years!

Thanks for getting back to me, and all the best with the site.

I played in the 73/74 final for Harpers, we lost 1 - 0 to Northicote, having beaten the
favourites Manders in the semi final 5 - 0.

I believe Northicote Old Boys played John Harpers in the 1973/4 final and I think won 1-0 I do not have details of the players though

** Help** Couple of years back i signed the guest book thinking i played for Manders in a JWH final , I was 'advised' I hadn't played so I removed the note. Having recently found some old football trophy's of mine i came across a JWH Snr Wns shield (6"x5") dated 1973/4 final, according to past finals list this years winners where Northicote Old Boys . Can anyone help did i play for N old Boys I recall a score of 1-0, where would i get the trophy from If I didn't play ? please help if you can.

Hi stumbled into this site looking for details on an ancestor Arthur Henry Oakley 1877 to 1962 my great great uncle who was at some time Vice chairman and Chairman of Wolverhampton Wanderers and it would appear a referee and Vice President and President of Wolverhampton referees Association. It appears that he may also have been an England selector an President of the Football league. If anyone remembers him or knows more about him please contact me.

"Good wishes also from Frank WORTHINGTON"
