1875 Birmingham District and Counties Football Association formed with 10 clubs. Charles Crump of Stafford Road Works FC Wolverhampton elected first President. John Campbell Ord appointed first Secretary.
1875-76. Tipton beat Aston Villa 3-0 in first BCFA Senior Cup Final.
1877. Blakenhall St Lukes FC formed playing at the Windmill Field.

1879. Blakenhall St Lokes amalgamate with Wanderers Cricket Club to form Wolverhampton Wanderers FC prior to 1879-80 season.Games played at John Harper field.Walsall Town formed.

1881, West Bromwich Strollers become West Bromwich Albion.
1880-81.BCFA Senior Cup final Walsall Swifts bt Aston Villa 1-0.
1883. Charles Crump Referees FA Cup final Blackburn Rovers 2v1 Old etonians at Kennington Oval.
1983-84. Wolves first season in FA Cup. Beat Long Eaton Rangers4-1 in First Round at home on Oct 27th 1883, Lose in Second Round 2-4 away to Wednesbury Old Athletic (one of the top clubs in area). Wolves win their first ever Trophy beating Hadley of Wellington,Shropshire 11-0 in the Final of the Wrekin Cup.
1884-85. Walsall Town beat Wolves 2-1 at Stoke in Staffs Senior Cup Final.
1885. Professionalism Legalised.Walsall Swifts and Walsall Town amalgamate to form Walsall Town Swifts.
1885-86.BCFA Senior Cup final WBA bt Walsall Swifts 1-0. Walsall Senior Cup Final sees Walsall Town beat Wolves 2-1.
1887-88. Inaugural BCFA Junior Cup Final between Birmingham area teams Victoria who beat Unity Gas 2-0. Wolves wi 2-1 at WBA in Staffs Senior Cup Final.
1888. William McGregor a scots born shoemaker who had a shop near Villa Park
instrumental in getting the prominent professional clubs together. Following a meeting in Manchester in April the Football League was founded.

1888-89 Football League first season 12 teams enter Wolves,WBA, Aston Villa, Stoke, Derby, Notts Forest from the industrial Midlands.
Preston North End, Bolton Wanderers,Everton,Burnley,Accrington and Blackburn Rovers from the industrial towns of Lancashire.
Wolves first league game is home to Aston Villa 1-1, on Saturday 8th Sept 1888 in front of 2,500. The Referee is Charles Crump from guess?? Wolverhampton.
Wolves beaten by Aston Villa 2-0 in Lord Mayor of Birmingham Charity Cup Final.
1888-89.Preston are inaugural Football League Champions never losing and winniong the FA Cup as well, Villa runners up and Wolves third. WBA finish sixth.
1889. Birmingham & District League founded (now West Midlands (Regional) league).
1889-90. Aston Villa beat Wolves 2-1 in Final of Lord Mayor of Birmingham Charity Cup. Promotion/relegation introduced.(No 2nd Division yet).

1890-91.Aston Villa beat Wolves3-0 (again) in Final of Lord Mayor of Birmingham Charity Cup. Goal nets and the penalty kick introduced.
1891-92.BCFA Senior Cup final Wolverhampton Wanderers bt WBA 5-2. Wolves beat Small Heath 2-1 in Final of Lord Mayor of Birmingham Charity Cup . 
1892-93 Football League Division Two founded. Small Heath (now Birmingham City) Champions. Walsall Town Swifts wooden spoonist.BCFA Senior Cup final Wolverhampton Wanderers bt Aston Villa 3-0.
1892 Birmingham & District Junior League founded (became Birmingham Combination in 1908).
1893-84 Aston Villa Div One Champions .BCFA Senior Cup final Wolverhampton Wanderers draw 3-3 with WBA joint holders. Aston Villa beat Wolves 2-1  in Staffs Senior Cup Final. Aston Villa beat Wolves 3-1 in Final of Lord Mayor of Birmingham Charity Cup. Willenhall Pickwicks beat Lozells 4-1 to win BCFA Junior Cup Final.
1895. Walsall are just  FC after dropping Town Swifts from name.
1894-95. BCFA Senior Cup final WBA bt Aston Villa 1-0 after a drawn game. Burton Wanderers beat Wolves 2-0  in Staffs Senior Cup Final.
1895-96 Aston Villa Div One Champions. WBA bottom (not relegated). Bilston United beat Lozells 2-1 to win BCFA Junior Cup Final.
1896-97.Aston Villa Div One Champions BCFA Senior Cup final Walsall bt Wolverhampton Wanderers 2-1. Wolves beat Stoke 2-0  in Staffs Senior Cup Final.
1897-98.BCFA Senior Cup final Walsall bt Wolverhampton Wanderers 3-1. Darlaston beat Hoobrook Olympic 4-2 to win BCFA Junior Cup Final.

1900-01. Wolves beat Stoke 3-1  in Staffs Senior Cup Final.
1901-02 WBA Div Two Champions.
1902-03. Wolves beat WBA 3-2  in Final of Lord Mayor of Birmingham Charity Cup. 
1903 Wolverhampton & District Amateur League founded.
1903-04 Wolves and Stoke Share Staffs Senior Cup after two 2-2 draws.
1904-05. Small Heath (now Birmingham) beat Wolves 4-0  in Staffs Senior Cup Final.
1905. Alf Common transferred from Sunderland to Middlesbrough. First £1000 fee.
1905-06 Wolves relegated to Div Two.

1915-18. World War One, Football League cancelled
1919-20. Resumption of League football with WBA Div One Champions. Both Divisions increased from 20 clubs to 22.

1920-21. Division Three formed with 22 Clubs. Except for Grimsby Town all are south of Birmingham, Crystal Palace first Div Three Champions.
1921-22. Further expansion of Football League with Division Three split into two sections of North and south. Walsall are elected into the North section finishing eighth. Wolves beat Walsall 2-1  in Staffs Senior Cup Final.
1922-23. Wolves bottom of Div Two relegated to Div three North.' BCFA Senior Cup Final Coventry City bt Bilston United 2-1 at Highfield Rd. In Staffs Senior Cup Final Walsall beat Wolves 3-2 at Fellows Park.
1923. First Wembley FA Cup Final (the white horse final)

1925.December death of John William Hunt founder of Chillington Tools at his Wolverhampton home.

1932-33. FA Cup Rd 3 Walsall beat mighty Arsenal 1-0 at Fellows Park.
1934-35. Wolves beat Stoke City 6-2 at Molineux in Staffs Senior Cup Final.

1935-36.Div 3 south. Easter Monday and Luton play reserve wing half Joe Payne at centre forward at home to Bristol Rovers. gamble pays off as Payne scores TEN goals.BCFA Senior Cup final Hednesford Town bt Burton Town 2-1 at Burton,

1936-37. Wolves beat Birmingham City 4-1 at Molineux  in Staffs Senior Cup Final.
1937-38. Wolves Division One Runners Up. WBA 21/22 relegated to Div Two. Wolves beat WBA 5-3 at Molineux  in Staffs Senior Cup Final.
1938. Rewriting of FA Laws of football.
1938-39. Wolves again Div One Runners up and also beaten FA Cup Finalist v Portsmouth. Wolverhampton & District Amateur Lg win Campell Orr Int Lg shield for first time beating Cradley Heath & Dist Lg 1-0.
1939. Numbering of players introduced in Football League.

1939-46. World War Two, Football League cancelled. The first weeks fixtures played on August 26th and Wolves lost 1-2 at Blackpool on Saturday 2nd September 1939, but that was it until Sat 31st August 1946.
Public congregations were banned for a few months, But then football started to be played for entertainment. Their were regional leagues and cup competitions well as internationals for the pros through out the war.
Local football was played including Sunday football. The JW Hunt Cup was played for through out the conflict.
1941-42. War League Cup Final. Wolves play Sunderland over two legs. The first leg at Roker Park is a 2-2 draw and Wolves win second leg at Molineux in front of 43,038 4-1 to win 6-3 on aggregate, Jack Rowley a local lad who played later for Man Utd and England guested for Wolves scoring two goals.

1946-47. Resumption of League Football. Liverpool Champions with 57 pts. Man Utd second 56pts and Wolves third 56pts. JW Hunt Cup official Harry Bryan runs line in FA Cup Final Burnley v Charlton. Tommy Lawson transferred from Chelsea to Notts County in first £20,000 deal. Oxley beat Gaskell and Chambers 4-1  to win BCFA Junior Cup Final.
1947. Tommy Lawton transfers from Chelsea to Notts County in first £20,000 fee.
1948-49. Wolves beat Leicester City in FA Cup final at Wembley. WBA Div Two runners up. Walsall Trinity beat Castle Rovers 2-1 to win BCFA Junior Cup Final.
1949-50.Wolves draw 1-1 with Portsmouth at Highbury in FA Charity Shield. Wolves beat Walsall 1-0 at Molineux  in Staffs Senior Cup Final.
W'ton & District Amateur Lg beat Midland Templars Lg 7-0 in final of Campell Orr Shield. Walsall Trinity beat Ogley Hay 2-1 to win BCFA Junior Cup Final.


1950-51. WBA beat Wolves 1-0 at Hawthorns  in Staffs Senior Cup Final.
1951-52. Walsall finish bottom of Div Three South, but re-elected. (first of four
consecutive seasons they get re-elected).Wolves beat Stoke City 9-0 at Molineux in Staffs Senior Cup Final.White ball first used.
1953-54. Wolves are Champions with WBA Runners up. WBA also win FA Cup at Wembley with 3-2 win over Preston North End.Goodyears beat Paget Rangers 3-2 aet to win BCFA Junior Cup Final.
1954-55. Wolves Runners Up Div One. Wolves draw 4-4 with WBA at Molineux to share FA Charity Shield in front of 45,035.
1955-56.22nd Feb 1956. First Football Lg floodlit match Div One Portsmouth v Newcastle Utd. Birmingham City beaten by Man City in FA Cup Final at Wembley.
1956-57. Aston Villa beat Man Utd in FA Cup Final at Wembley. W'ton & Distict Works Lg beat Birmingham & Dist Amateur Lg 2-1 in final of Campell Orr Shield.
1957-58. Wolves are Champions of Div One.
1958. Wolverhampton & District Sunday Amateur League founded
1958-59. Wolves are Champions of Div One. Bolton at home beat Wolves 4-1 in FA Charity Shield.
1959-60. Wolves are Div One Runners Up. Burnley win final game to pip Wanderers by one point. Wolves beat Blackburn Rovers in FA Cup Final at Wembley. Wolves at home beat Notts Forest 3-1 to win FA Charity Shield.
Division Four is formed by amalgamating top and bottom halves of North and South Sections.Walsall win first ever senior honour as inaugural Div Four Champions.

1960-61. Walsall are Div Three Runners-up. Football League Cup introduced. Aston Villa beat Rotherham 3-2 aet on aggregate. Wolves draw 2-2 at Burnley to share FA Charity Shield.

1964-65. Wolves relegated finishing one place above Birmingham City.

1966-67.Substitue allowed (one). Wolves are Runners-up in Div Two behind Champions Coventry City by one point. First Wembley League Cup Final. WBA lose 2-3 to QPR after leading 2-0 at half time,Wolves beat Tamworth 3-2 on aggregat  in Staffs Senior Cup Final.

1969-70. Man City beat WBA 2-1 in League Cup Final.

1970-71. JW Hunt Cup official JK Taylor referees European Cup Final at Wembley Ajax v Panathinaikos. Kingswinford United beat Knowle 1-0 to win BCFA Junior Cup Final.
1971-72. Wolves beaten by Tottenham Hotspur over two legged UEFA Cup Final.
1972-73.WBA bottom club to Div Two. Darlaston beat AP Leamington 2-1 to win Birmingham Senior Cup Final at Walsall. Bilston Town win 2-0 at Barnstaple Town ib First Round of FA Cup. In the Second Rd they draw 1-1 at Southern League Barnet but lose 0-1 in replay at Queen Street.

1978-79. Walsall relegated to Div Four 22/24.
1979-80. Wolves beat Notts Forest 1-0 in League Cup Final. Walsall runners up promoted to Div Three.Northpark United beat Chrysler Sports 1-0 to win BCFA Junior Cup Final.
 First million pound transfer between British clubs Trevor Francis Birmingham city to Notts Forest.

1980-81. Aston Villa League champion, Willenhall Town reach FA Vase Final but lose 2-3 to Wickham Town from the Wearside League at Wembley.
1981-82. Willenhall Town reach the Round 1 of the FA Cup losing at home to Crewe Alexander..

Dudley Town beat Willenhall Town 4-2 in BCFA Senior Cup Final. Springvale Tranco beat Sphinx 6-1 to win BCFA Junior Cup Final.
1986/87. Play offs introduced. A reborn Wolves finish fourth in Div Four, Reach PO final but lose over two legs to Aldershot who finished sixth 1-2. The consolation is in front of a big crowd at Molineux Wolves beat Burton Albion 2-1 in BCFA Senior Cup Final
1987-88. Wolves Div Four Champions.Also beat Burnley at Wembley in Sherpa Van Trophy Final. Walsall promoted to Div Two via play offs. Wolves as a founder member of the Football League pl;ay in a FL centenary competition at Wembley, but are beaten by Everton 3-2 on pens(1-1) in second phase. Tipton Town beat Brewood 3-1 in first BCFA  Saturday Challenge Vase Final. 1994-95. Walsall runners up Div Three promoted to Div Two.
1995-96. Aston Villa win League Cup beating Leeds 3-0.

2010. Wolverhampton Referees Association celebrated its Centenary and is inducted into the Wolverhampton City Sporting Hall of Fame.
2010-11. Tipton Town reach Rd 1 FA Cup but lose away to Carlisle Utd 0-6.
Birmingham beat Arsenal 1-0 in League Cup Final. Birmingham finish 18/20 in Premier League and relegated.

2011/12. JW Hunt Cup President Alex Hamil receives a Birmingham County award for 50 years service to football.
